Superintendent Michael Clerkley was born October, 8TH, 1955 in Palestine, Texas to Tommy and Helen Clerkley. His immediate birth family includes 5 brothers. Gerald, Tommy Jr. Kenneth, Charles, Victor and 4 sisters- Anita, Sharon, Marion, and Regina.
His confession in Christ was made at the the tender age of 17, Elder Clerkley acknowleged a call to preach under the pastorate of Superintendent R.C. Williams of the friendly Temple Church of God In Christ in Fort Worth, Texas.
Elder Clerkley service continued until Bishop J. Neaul Haynes appointed him to pastor Coffey Memorial Church Of God In Christ in Denison, Texas in August 1992. God blessed the faithfulness and labor of Elder Clerkley.
The road of education began in Palestine and ended in Fort Worth, Texas. Michael graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1973. Fall of the same year, he enrolled in Bishop College to study Religion.
As Elder Clerkley matriculated through college, he fellowshipped with Elder Charles Craig at the Faith Kingdom Church Of God in Christ (Formally, Macedonia COGIC), where he became Assistant Pastor to Elder Craig in 1974
Elder Clerkley met his life partner Missionary Clara Clerkley in September of 1973; and married her in 1974. Together, they share 5 children – Cal, Natasha, Michael Jr., Omega and Jessica. From these seeds have come 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
In July 2000, Bishop Frank Smith, Jr., asked Elder Clerkley to prayerfully consider serving the Lighthouse Church Of God In Christ as its Pastor. God has blessed Superintendent Michael Clerkley with a mighty visio for the Lighthouse Chruch to be known as “The House That Seeks The Heart of God”.
